The Ridgid 18-Volt 7-1/4″ Brushless Dual Bevel Sliding Miter Saw is going to be a game changer for many contractors. First, it is small, lightweight and easy to move around. There are so many possibilities for its use through construction, finish carpentry and even do it yourselfer’s. The Ridgid 7-1/4″ miter saw uses a very common and affordable blade that is also used on circular saws. These blades are very affordable, even in high tooth blades needed for great cuts. As long as your trim that is needed to be cut vertically is less than 3.5″, you will find this saw to fit most, if not all of your needs. It can cut a 2×8 at 90 degrees and a 2×6 at 45 degrees.

The miter system is simple and familiar. It will miter to the right and left to 48 degrees. The saw will also bevel in both directions to 48 degrees, with both miter and bevel adjustments having detents for the more common stops. The saw comes with an LED lit area that creates a shadow line for cut placement. Ridgid also incorporated an E-brake into the 7-1/4″ miter saw that will stop the blade almost instantly when the trigger is released. This will help to increase productivity as material can be moved without the chance of it coming into contact with a spinning blade.

Completely Portable

This very small looking saw has 3 handles to grab to easily move the 24 pound Ridgid miter saw around the job site or workshop. Don’t let the size fool you, this machine is pretty powerful. We were easily able to make all the cuts we wanted to on pine and oak without hesitation or waiting for the saw to catch up. With the availability of 7-1/4″ blades, there is no excuse as to why one would use a dull blade or not upgrade to a fine cut blade when needed. The fine cut blades with more teeth did take up a bit more power, but we did not see a reduction in cut times because we are not pushing or slamming through those cuts because we want the perfect edge.

The Ridgid 18v 7-1/4″ miter saw is currently the only saw of its size that is battery operated and is a dual bevel saw. There is no special blade and the performance with the Ridgid 5.0Ah battery is amazing. We were able to make 214 cuts through a 2×4 on a single charge. Our cuts were made one after another with very few breaks, so the runtime with a chance for the battery to rest between cuts would only increase.

For a person who is on the go or does not have a lot of storage space, this small saw is perfect. The 7-1/4″ blade size will work for 80 to 90% of all the cuts someone would need to make. Combine that with the saws accuracy, runtime and price at $299.00; we feel this saw is a home run.
